Is Rice High in Oxalates?

While you don't have to give up rice, the choice between white rice and brown rice matters. White rice is considered a low-oxalate food (4mg per cup), making it a safer daily choice. Brown rice contains more nutrients but is higher in oxalates (24mg per cup).

A cooked cup of white rice contain 4 mg of oxalate while a cooked cup of brown rice contain 24 mg of oxalates.

Phytates
While brown rice has more oxalates, its high phytate content can actually help inhibit stone formation. Phytates act as 'stone inhibitors,' meaning they can help prevent crystals from sticking together in the kidneys.
How to Safely Include Rice in Your Renal Diet
Mix your rice with low oxalate vegetables and one servings of milk.
